Having A Magician At Your Wedding

Hiring a magician at a wedding can make the day perfect! Most weddings are family occasions with young and old coming together to celebrate one of the most joyous occasions in life. Magic is perfect for such events because young and old can enjoy the amazement. Choosing the right time for your magician to perform is an important and personal choice.

There are a number of ways a magician at a wedding can help make your day very special.

Most wedding days are made up of three or four parts, the ceremony, the reception, the wedding breakfast and sometimes an evening reception as well. I have never been asked to perform at the ceremony, although I know some magicians who have so I'll leave this one out.

Here are my thoughts on having a magician at a wedding for the reception, breakfast and evening function.

A magician at the Reception

A magician at a wedding reception will mix and mingle with the guests moving from group to group. As some of your guests may be meeting for the first time this kind of performance can be a nice ice breaker. Avoid hiring a magician during photographs, people enjoy watching them. Guests are often called over by the photographer as he works. This makes it difficult for the magician at a wedding to work. However if you have a reception which is going to last an hour or more this can be the perfect time for a magician to work.

The Wedding Breakfast

Strange as it may seem, given that people are eating, the wedding breakfast can be the ideal time for a magician at a wedding to work. Everyone is seated so they can see and the performer knows which tables he has visited so he won't miss anyone out. This way everyone sees the magic.

If you choose to use a magician at a wedding at this time then don't put large decorations on the table tops. Large displays mean that the guests can't see the magician and will miss out on the magic.

Between the wedding breakfast and evening reception

This may seem like a good time to hire a magician but be careful. If the guests are staying in the hotel or nearby they may disappear for some quite time or to change. I have been employed at this time before and found the place deserted. So be careful.

Hiring a magician at a wedding Evening Reception

This is another good time to hire a magician at a wedding. Often there are a greater number of guests and everyone is very relaxed. Try to avoid having your magician compete with loud music or a disco.
